Kristaps Zariņš

Latvian Contemporary Painter

Biography

Born in 1975 in Riga, Latvia, Kristaps Zariņš has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Baltic painting. His work explores the intersection of light, architectural form, and minimalist structural integrity.

Over the last two decades, Zariņš has developed a unique visual language that strips away the superfluous, focusing instead on the emotional resonance of color fields and the subtle interplay of shadows. His canvases often act as meditations on space, inviting the viewer into a silent dialogue with the abstract.

"Painting is a way of organizing silence. It is about capturing the moment before a thought becomes a word."
